Research Interests
Aki SHIBUYA specializes in Korean linguistics and bibliography. Analyzes works mostly written in hangul from historical linguistic and bibliographic perspectives. More specifically, the current main project involves investigating relations between the existing editions of “Samgang-haengsil-do” and “Sok-Samgang-haengsil-do”, etc., published during the Joseon Dynasty period and creating their phylogenetic tree chart.
With broad interests extending to the morphology, word formation, and lexicology of the modern Korean language, also conducts research on color words found in the Korean language.
