Archiving of Asia in Asia
― Collection, Preservation and Digitization of Rare Documents from the Colonial Period in Kolkata
― コルカタにおける植民地期貴重資料アーカイビングプロジェクト
資料のデジタル化は急速に進んでいます。東京大学の「新図書館計画」とその一部である「アジア研究図書館計画」にとっても大きな課題です。しかし、欧米など一部地域で研究・実践の高度化と深化が進んでいる一方で、その他の地域との間の新しい「デジタル・ギャップ」の出現も懸念されます。特に旧植民地の研究については、資料集積と研究の拠点が欧米に偏っている例も見られ、アジア資料の研究とアーカイビングをアジアで十全に進めることは、世界のアジア研究の大きな課題といえます。 本ワークショップでは、ストックホルム大学のフェルディナンド・サルデラ氏を招き、氏がコルカタの図書館と共同して進めている、宗教とインド学に関わる植民地貴重資料のデジタル化とオープンアクセス化のプロジェクトについてうかがい、アジア研究と資料の現在と未来を考えます。
This workshop invites Prof. Ferdinando Sardella from Stockholm University to hear about an archiving project he is undertaking in Kolkata. He is working with a team in Kolkata to develop an open access archives of rare documents dealing with religion in India, mainly from the colonial period. Through the lecture by Prof. Sardella and the discussion with the commentators, we would like to think about the present and the future of archiving as well as study of and in Asia.
